Finding the right wine for you

Crump Richmond and Shaw offer our customers a full broking service, sourcing tens of thousands of wines from a carefully curated list of suppliers across the world.
As brokers, rather than stockholders, we are not beholden to the traditional rules of many wine merchants, allowing us to focus on our customers’ needs and wants rather than ensuring stock turnover. This allows us to offer wines based on impartial merit, at the best possible prices, by removing the ensuing costs of stockholding and storage.
CRS has a dedicated team of both Private Client and Trade Account Managers, passionate and knowledgeable, to help take you through the initial process of placing your order and then moving forward offering honest and impartial advice whether you are looking for that one-off bottle or building a cellar.

If you are placing an order with a specific date in mind, please speak to your account manager before confirmation, they will be able to offer advice

Stock Consolidation

In order to offer you the widest range of stock at the best possible prices we consolidate our collections throughout Europe and further worldwide. Building shipments with our suppliers allows us to reduce our freight costs and in turn pass this saving along to our customers. It also allows us to purchase wines from a greater network of suppliers.
We work with a small number of trusted shipping partners in order to do this. We aim to have all stock available in our warehouse within 4-12 weeks, although we do endeavour to fulfil your order as quickly as possible.
Please note during summer if we are not able to secure a refrigerated truck for the shipment, we will push back scheduled collections. Ensuring the integrity of the wine you receive is of upmost importance to us! Other exceptions may occur to delay delivery, if so you will be updated.

Arrival at our Warehouse

We store with LCB in their Dinton Woods facility. For more information on the site please visit https://www.lcb.co.uk/
The vast majority of the wine we offer is under bond at the point of purchase. As such when arriving into our warehouse it is subject to the rules and landing procedures implemented by UK guidelines.
All wines are checked upon arrival by an expert team and any conditions if noted, are flagged. If you would like a full ‘Condition Report’ of your stock before shipment or during storage this can be arranged for £8.25+VAT per individual listing.
Once your stock has landed with our warehouse we will contact you to arrange onward delivery or storage as instructed.
Once you make an enquiry through our website, a member of our sales team will contact you asap, to discuss all your options, including shipping times and delivery.
Our vast list of wines at wholesale prices is constantly being updated with new items being added every day.
We do ask our clients meet our £1,000 Minimum order value.

Taro Crump

Director

Bio

A sociology graduate, the obvious path was a career in alcohol. In 2005, able to differentiate wines by colour alone, Taro cut his teeth on the shop floor at one of the world’s oldest wine merchants. Here he spent most of his time polishing glasses in the cellar and driving around London in the company van. He does vaguely recall the consumption of one or two half decent bottles along the way.

Armed with a palette heavily biased towards the wines of Bordeaux and having been incorrectly identified as Chinese by his new employer, Taro spent many enjoyable years trading wine in Hong Kong and beyond (before realisation dawned that he was in fact Japanese). Taro has carried this mantle on to Crump Richmond and Shaw, where he still spends most of his time selling fine wines and spirits to clients old and new in the Far East.

When not slaving away in the office Taro spends most of his time trying (and failing) to keep his 3 young daughters under control. In no particular order eating, swimming, walking the dog and (watching) rugby all feature feature quite prominently in his spare time.

After returning from a couple of years in Australia I joined the wine trade where I met Jim and Taro.  A couple of stints at smaller traders in senior sales roles followed before setting up CRSFW with Jim and Taro.

At CRSFW I am in charge of the companies systems and look after our direct grower and agency relationships.

Caoilinn Hanna

Director

Bio

My interest in the wine industry was first sparked whilst on a University placement with drinks giant Diageo, which I had managed to shoehorn into a degree in Economics and Finance. This was further compounded whilst completing an internship in Bordeaux at a small museum tracing the history of the local wine trade.

Originally from Northern Ireland, I moved to London in 2012, where I quickly found my niche in logistics and operations, before joining CRS in 2015.
I’ve been lucky enough to have tried some incredible wines over the last few years, but 1996 Petrus and 1982 Grange have been particular standouts.

Private Client Sales

Bio

When I first started out in the wine trade, my ears were pricked with the beauty about where wines are made. From the old world classics such as Burgundy and Bordeaux to the new world like Napa and The Barossa Valley, I was drawn by the beauty of these places. I thoroughly appreciate the grape growing process and have tried to immerse myself in the world of wine!

I have enjoyed being in the trade from starting out in retail at Oddbins up to management level. I have also undertaken several sales roles in the industry before joining Crump Richmond & Shaw.

I’m a keen music lover and drinks industry enthusiast.

Bio

Having been in a family who loved wine, my “Road to Damascus” moment eventually came at the age of 19; a 1985 Chateau D’Issan at Christmas lunch. After that, my love of wine grew exponentially and I made it my mission in life to find all kinds of different wines that brought me that same kind of joy. After nearly 10 years working with Majestic Wines in a number of their London stores including Mayfair, the Fine Wine Centre at St. John’s Wood and as manager of the Marylebone branch, I decided I needed a change and joined Crump, Richmond and Shaw where I could continue to sell wines I’m passionate about.

Although my first love was Bordeaux, since then I have discovered the wonders of Italy and, most notably, Burgundy. I particularly enjoy the wines of Denis Mortet, Henri Boillot and (if I’m lucky!) Dujac and Rousseau but still maintain the 1982 Chateau Latour is the greatest wine I’ve ever drunk.

Senior Private Client Sales

Bio

I have been with Crump Richmond and Shaw since March 2017 having previously worked for a Majestic wine. I specifically work with private clients on a global basis who are looking to secure a large and diverse range of wine. I completed studying the WSET Diploma in 2019.

I am interested personally in a broad range of wine and am happy to try anything, however I very much enjoying working my way through the Crus of Montrachet with some personal favourite wines being the likes of Leflaive Chevalier and Joseph Drouhin’s Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche. I am also starting to develop a like for dry Riesling with highlights including Keller’s GG range including his Kirchspiel and Abts Erde bottlings and FX’s Pichler’s Unendlich also being an excellent showcase for Austria.

Through my studies I have developed a like for Italian wines and specifically that of Tuscany with the likes of Sassicaia, Solaia and Tignanello being firm favourites. Other favourite wines include the likes of aged Priorat and the Northern Rhone. My tastes are certainly eclectic but I find one of the many joys of wine itself is the amount of diversity it has.
