    2012 Jim Barry Armagh - 98 + WA

Certain names resonate strongly within the halls of Australian wine history. Jim Barry Wines is one of those names, as it was Jim Barry’s drive and community spirit that helped shape South Australia’s Clare Valley as a benchmark in the world of Riesling and Shiraz, cementing its place as one of Australia’s premier wine regions. Jim Barry Wines has a strong lineage. Jim, himself, was the first qualified winemaker in the Clare Valley, graduating as just the 17th student to gain a Diploma in Oenology at the famous Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1947. Jim Barry became a pioneer of Australian table wine, championing Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec in the Clare Valley.

He founded the winery in 1959. Today, Jim and Nancy’s son Peter oversees the running of the business, along with his wife Sue (Brand Ambassador), and children, Tom (Director of Winemaking), Sam (Sales and Marketing Director) and Olivia (Brand Ambassador). Peter and Sue Barry are deeply proud that Jim Barry Wines is still family owned, with three generations of Roseworthy graduates. The Barry family name is synonymous with the Clare wine region and their deep ties to the local community continue to this day.

I am pleased to offer some of their fantastic 2012 vintage which is now in it's drinking window at the best price on the market
2012 Armagh Shiraz, Jim Barry – GBP 775 per 6x75cl IB (10 Cases Available)

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Shiraz The Armagh offers a gorgeous perfume of baking spices, violets, Sichuan pepper and fragrant earth. More earthy and savory in the mouth than on the nose, the palate is superbly structured and taut—built for the long-haul—with a long, complex finish. Still very youthfully, forget this wine for 3-5 more years and consider drinking it over the next 20+. 98 + Points Lisa Perrotti Brown WA Drink 2018-2038, Aug 2016
