    2019 Bouchard Le Corton

We are pleased to offer this fantastic 2019 Bouchard Corton at the best price on the market.

Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils, is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy, perpetuating tradition for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations.

Over time, by acquiring various terroirs with great care and patience, Bouchard Père & Fils has built up a vast domaine in Côte-d’Or. Today the estate boasts 130 hectares of vines, of which 12 are classed Grand Cru and 74 classed as Premier Cru. Bouchard Père & Fils is an example of unique Burgundy heritage, offering great diversity and a raft of prestigious appellations.

The first traces of vineyards at Aloxe-Corton date back to the 2nd. Century B.C.. Later, Le Corton was to be the favorite wine of Charlemagne. In the 19th century, the writer, Guy de Maupassant contributed to its reputation by calling it the "roi des bons vivants" in his famous novel "Bel ami". Corton is the only red Grand Cru on the Côte de Beaune and the only Grand Cru on the Côte d'Or to be divided into "sousclimats". "Le Corton" is the historic vineyard which gave the name to the Corton appellation. The estate now holds 3.5 hectares in this famous grand cru.
2019 Le Corton, Domaine Bouchard – GBP 530 per 6x75cl IB (10 Cases)
The 2019 Le Corton Grand Cru confirms its superb showing from barrel, blossoming in the glass with scents of wild berries, peonies, violets, blood orange and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, sumptuous and enveloping, with melting tannins, beautiful purity of fruit and lively balancing acids, it's long and perfumed, concluding with a saline, rose-inflected finish. I have never tasted a Corton from Bouchard that was so good, so young. 94 Points William Kelly WA 30th Sept 2021

An overtly floral nose reflects notes of rose petal, lavender, acacia and violet along with nuances of red and black fruit, earth and a whiff of forest floor. There is excellent intensity, size, weight and power to the attractively textured big-bodied flavors that brim with minerality on the caressing but punchy finale. This beautifully balanced effort is in the classic mold of this wine as it's very clearly built for the long haul and again, I would suggest not touching this wine for at least a decade and two decades would not be much of a surprise. 93 - 95 Points BH Don't Miss April 2021

Fragrant with violet, black cherry, black currant, licorice, iron and spice aromas and flavors, this red is both powerful and restrained, with a supple texture and solid structure that are beautifully aligned, while the aftertaste lingers with echoes of dark fruit, mineral and spice. Best from 2024 through 2042. 100 cases imported 96 Points Wine Spectator Oct 2021
