    2020 Domaine William Fevre EP Offer

    We are pleased to offer the below range of the 2020 vintage from one of Chablis’s largest and most famous domaines; William Fevre.  The domaine's grapes are hand harvested with the exception of the Petit Chablis and are fermented in a mixture of stainless steel and used barrels sourced from Bouchard Père & Fils, depending on the cuvée. After five or six months, the wine fermented in wood is also racked to stainless steel to continue its élevage on the lees.

    Fevre have once again produced a stunning set of wines for the vintage (as is often the case), as underlined in the below scores received from Allen Meadows of Burghound. As stated by Meadows in his 2020 Burgundy Report 2020 was a fantastic vintage for white wines;

    ‘2020 produced ripe yet very fresh and particularly elegant whites that are plump, delicious and well-balanced. In much the same fashion as all of the last four vintages, they are notably saline in character which contributes to the impression of dryness on the generally refreshing and vibrant finishes.’

    He goes on to say, specifically of Fevre; ‘I was suitably impressed with the quality of the Fèvre 2020s and while they’re not going to rival the other worldly 2014s, they are indisputably excellent.’

    We are pleased to offer a fantastic selection of their 2020 releases below;

    Grand Cru

    2020 Chablis Grand Gru Vaudesir, Domaine William Fevre  - GBP 210 per 3x75cl IB
    (2 Cases Available)

    A discreet dollop of wood sets off the ever-so-mildly exotic aromas of white and yellow peach, passion fruit and subtle mineral reduction wisps. There isn't the same weight and density though there is much better refinement to the lightly stony, focused and sneaky long finish. This is a classic Vaudésir that should also reward a decade or so of cellaring. 92-95 Points BH Don’t Miss Oct 2021

    2020 Chablis Grand Gru Les Preuses, Domaine William Fevre  - GBP 218 per 3x75cl IB (8 Cases Available)

    Aromas of quinine, essence of wet stone and seashore add breadth to the nose of pear, apple and anise. Once again there is fine density and intensity to the mouth coating medium weight flavors that flash outstanding length on the bracingly saline suffused finale. This has already develop very good depth and more will also surely develop. This is potentially outstanding. 93-96 Points BH, Don’t Miss Oct 2021

    2020 Chablis Grand Gru Les Clos, Domaine William Fevre  - GBP 275 per 3x75cl IB (20 Cases Available)
    2020 Chablis Grand Gru Les Clos, Domaine William Fevre  - GBP 600 per 3x150cl IB (2 Cases Available)
    2020 Chablis Grand Gru Les Clos, Domaine William Fevre  - GBP 435 per 300cl IB
    (1 Case Available)

    A cool, restrained and airy nose grudgingly divulges its combination of lemon rind, green apple, quinine and acacia blossom scents. There is again excellent volume and concentration to the powerful and muscular flavors that also coat the palate with dry extract on the impressively complex and hugely long finish. This is classic Les Clos in that it manages to be at once big and overtly powerful while remaining refined and classy. This is, in a word, terrific. 94-96 Points BH Don’t Miss Oct 2021

    Premier Cru

    Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons, Domaine William Fevre – GBP 185 per 6x75cl IB
    (10 Cases Available)

    Touches of menthol and wood surround the floral and pepper scented nose that isn't quite as fresh as that of the Montmains. There is by contrast good energy to the very rich and nicely voluminous flavors that conclude in a bitter lemon and intensely saline-inflected finale. Very good but not truly special. 89-91 Points BH Oct 2021

    Chablis 1er Cru Montmains, Domaine William Fevre – GBP 185 per 6x75cl IB
    (4 Cases Available
    )

    Here too the nose is elegant, pure and layered but with more floral and spice nuances adding breadth to the cooler and more restrained aromas. There is both excellent intensity and density to the mineral-driven flavors that terminate in a bone-dry, sneaky long and balanced finale. This too is really very good.91-93 Points BH Outstanding Oct 2021

    Chablis 1er Cru Valourent, Domaine William Fevre – GBP 285 per 6x75cl IB
    (4 Cases Available)

    The restrained and layered nose makes clear that this could be from nowhere else but Chablis with its aromas of algae, iodine, oyster shell and spiced pear. The texture of the medium weight flavors is also sleek and intense with slightly better density to the youthfully austere bitter lemon suffused finish. Lovely. 92-94 Points BH Sweet Spot Outstanding Oct 2021

    Village

    Chablis, Domaine William Fevre – GBP 89 per 6x75cl IB
    (20 Cases Available)

    An expressive and airy nose reflects notes of mineral reduction, green fruit and plenty of citrus influence. There is slightly better density and a more attractive texture to the delicious flavors that flash good minerality on the dry, balanced and moderately firm finish. This is worth a look for its level. 89-91 Points BH Outstanding Top Value Oct 2021
