2022 Bordeaux En Primeur - Château Larrivet Haut-Brion and Château Senejac

    2022 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
GBP 162 per case of 6x75cl IB

Château Larrivet Haut-Brion is a Bordeaux wine estate in the Pessac-Léognan district, 15km (9 miles) south of Bordeaux city center. Its reputation has been on the rise since an excellent 1996 release of the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant wine. The estate has been called several names over the years, including Château de Canolle, La Rivette, Brion-Larrivet and Haut-Brion Larrivet, taking on its current name in 1929. During the depression of the 1930s, production was almost non-existent and many vines were uprooted.

“The 2022 Larrivet Haut-Brion offers up aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry, violet, orange zest, iris and ripe plums, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that's supple, seamless and elegant, its succulent core of fruit framed by velvety tannins, concluding with a floral finish. A blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc—the most significant portion of this grape variety ever used at this estate run by Bruno Lemoine—this is one of the most interesting wines that this estate has produced in recent years. It matured in 15% amphorae, 50% new barrels and the balance in tanks.”

    2022 Château Sénéjac, Haut-Médoc
GBP 143 per case of 12x75cl IB

Château Sénéjac is a Bordeaux wine estate in the Haut-Médoc region, producing wines principally from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It was planted with vines as early as the 16th Century, and in 1999, was bought by Lorraine Cordier of Château Talbot in Saint-Julien. On her death in 2011, both Sénéjac and Talbot passed to her sister, Nancy Bignon Cordier.

"The 2022 Sénéjac is one of the best wines that this northern Médoc cru Bourgeois has produced in the last decade or two. Offering up aromas of cherries, dark berries, peonies and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent, with a rich core of fruit, supple tannins and a persistent finish."
90-92 points William Kelley, Wine Advocate April 2023
